Transfer Sites
Kneehill County operates Waste Transfer Sites for residents throughout the County.
Hours of operation and accepted materials vary at each location. Please see below for more information.
Drumheller Landfill
We are also part of the Drumheller and District Solid Waste Association, where much of the waste is transferred for further disposal. Visit the Drumheller Landfill website for more information on the waste and recycling services available for Kneehill County residents.
Please note: Loads must be sorted and directions from site attendants must be adhered to. Some material may not be acceptable.
Tipping Fees for Non-Residents:
- 1/2 ton trucks - $20.00
- 1-ton trucks - $40.00
- Loads larger than specified - $80.00
- Freon Appliances - $15.00

Torrington Transfer Station

Acceptable Material:
- Household Waste ONLY (Must be bagged!)
- Vehicle Batteries
- Paints, Stains, and Primers
- E-Waste (TV's Computers, Printers, etc.)
New! More electronics accepted for recycling! - Scrap Metal (Includes Wire.)
- White Metal (Fridges, Stoves, Freezers, Dishwashers.)
- Tires (Must be separated from the rim.)
- Cardboard & Newsprint Recycling
- A fee is in effect for all Freon appliances
Burn Pit: Only clean combustible materials permitted. It is imperative that unacceptable materials (treated, painted, varnished, etc.) wood or furniture are not burned, as these pits can be ordered to be closed down.
Rubble Pit: The rubble pit accepts all dry/non-organic material (construction material,
furniture, etc.). All construction and demolition material is to be brought in pieces of 1 meter in length or smaller. The rubble pit will not accept animal carcasses/feces, Asbestos material,
Cannabis waste, contaminated soil, grain bags/silage bags, spoiled grain, explosives/ammunition, paint, oil and/or any oil-related products, any
liquids or lubricants, household waste, etc.
The rubble pit is a service provided to Kneehill County residents ONLY. If a non-resident intends to use the facility a tipping fee will be charged.
All other material must be disposed of at an appropriate facility.

Three Hills Transfer Station

Acceptable Material:
- Household Waste ONLY (Must be bagged!)
- Pesticide Containers (Must be rinsed and boxes recycled.)
- Paints, Stains, and Primers
- Vehicle Batteries
- Bagged Twine (Bags may be picked up at the Kneehill County office.)
- Cardboard & Newsprint Recycling
Boxes from Pesticide must be flattened and placed in the GREEN recycle bin provided.
All other material must be disposed of at an appropriate facility.

Linden Transfer Station
