Kneehill-County-Logo-Transparent-Background-Web

Date:   September 8, 2020
Time:   10:00 AM
Place:  Council Chambers, Kneehill County Office
1600, 2nd Street NE, Three Hills, AB   T0M 2A0

Purpose

In order for a municipality to work within the changing pressures for land use, the Land Use Bylaw needs to be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure it stays relevant.  On September 17, 2019, administration brought the Land Use Bylaw to the Committee of the Whole, to outline the changes that would be necessary if we were to allow hens in urban areas.

Since the Land Use Bylaw should coincide with the Strategic Plan, this was also an opportunity for Council to ensure this Land Use Bylaw is in fact a reflection of this Council’s vision for our County. Administration reviewed some of the broader policies of the Land Use Bylaw with Council at the October 15, 2019, and June 23, 2020 Committee of the Whole meetings.  Council requested some additional amendments to be made in light of the Strategic Plan.  These have been included in the attached draft document.

Administration has also incorporated some clauses out of the MGA, clarified some sections, and added some uses that will create further opportunities for landowners within Kneehill County. These proposed amendments were also presented to Council at this meeting.

Therefore, Take Notice that a public hearing to contemplate the proposed Bylaw 1808 will be held in Kneehill County Council Chambers at 10:00 am on the 8th day of September 2020.

Presentation: Oral and written comments and suggestions are invited and should be addressed to the point of the proposed Bylaw. They may be made by any person or group of persons or a person acting on his or their behalf, who claims to be affected by the proposed bylaw, and by any other persons that Council wishes to hear at the hearing.  Written submissions may be made by the persons above, and must be received in the Kneehill County Office by Noon on Thursday, September 3, 2020.  It should be noted, written submissions will become public.  Oral presentations may be made at the hearing by the persons above.

Individuals who have submitted a letter may only address Council at the Public Hearing on new information not contained in the letter.  The time limit of oral presentations is subject to the direction of the Chairman.

Documentation: Copies of the proposed Land Use Bylaw are available for public inspection online or at the Kneehill County Administration Office during regular office hours.
