Council meets twice a month (once during summer) in the Council Chambers at the Kneehill County Administration Building, 1600 - 2nd Street NE.

As of January 2018, Kneehill County Council meetings are live-streamed via YouTube, beginning at 8:30 am the day of the meeting. (Unless otherwise scheduled.)
The morning prior to each Council Meeting, a link to the live stream will be available on the home page of the Kneehill County website, and on Facebook and Twitter. Residents can also view the meeting through YouTube directly, or subscribe to the YouTube channel.
Following the Council meeting, the live-stream video is timestamped to correspond with the meeting agenda and saved to our YouTube channel archive for viewing.
Parts 5 & 6 of the Municipal Government Act focuses on Councils, Councillors, Council Committees, and Municipal Organization. It includes procedures for passing bylaws, making motions, when to call meetings, and the responsibilities of Councillors.
Closed Session is a legal term meaning "in private". When Council goes into Closed Session, it means that the Council Meeting (as defined in the Municipal Government Act (MGA) is closed to the public.
Council members, the CAO, and any others included in the Closed Session discussion must keep in confidence what was discussed until the item is discussed at a Council Meeting held in public.
Section 197 of the MGA prohibits the passing of a resolution or bylaw during a Closed Session. If a direction or decision is reached in a Closed Session, then a resolution must be made in the open meeting so that Council's direction is recorded and acted upon.
The media and public cannot attend the Closed Session discussion but are welcome to return to the Council meeting following the Closed Session.
